Level 2 Interview
We all know Brazil and quality drum and bass go hand in hand. V Recordings delivers another hot EP by none other than Level 2, delivering his 2nd EP for the long standing label. Bassmusic.me has a quick chat with the dj/producer, to talk about his latest work and future offerings.
Bassmusic.me: Thank you for chatting with us the week of your release, the “Red Notes” EP. Is there any theme or vibe that inspired this work? How long did it take to write and which is your favorite?
Level 2: Hello people, first I would like to thank to all Bassmusic Crew for the interview.. So, my inspiration is always the old tunes, V Classics.. especially for this EP, I finished the tunes in two months maybe, when I sent it to Bryan G, he liked all of them… My favorite track is Rolling Pass, my best tune I think..
Bassmusic.me: Would you please describe your current sound?
Level 2: Today I’m doing a bit of everything .. “Red Notes” EP is something more deep and rolling tunes … for the LiquidV I will do something more melodic, also deep too .. but now I’m doing liquid style ..
Bassmusic.me: You have various releases with V Recordings, when did that relationship first begin with the legendary imprint?
Level 2: In 2008 when I made one of my first songs called “Going Back”, Thiago from Critycal Dub sent the song to Bryan G..and we started talking and I signed my first three tunes.. and today I have signed/released more than 30 tunes with them.
Bassmusic.me: Any future releases or plans for the summer?
Level 2: Yes, now I’m selecting some tracks from Brazilian producers for a compilation mixed by Level 2 on V Record’s Brazil Project and also keep doing my tunes, I have tunes for V Records, Chronic, Innerground, SPBreakz Recs and Apexx Recs for this year. I still have many things to do!
Bassmusic.me: What is most essential to you when it comes to staying on top of your craft as a producer?
Level 2: For me the key is to have peace with himself, don’t hurry and search a lot, that’s the key for me.
